Cine Brasil at Brown Film Festival 2008

CineBRASIL, Brown University’s Brazilian Film Festival, announces its first edition from March 5th to March 9th, 2008, with film screenings, Q&A’s with directors, and panel discussions at the Avon Cinema, as well as in other venues on the university campus. VIP festival guests, academics, Brown students and faculty, local officials, as well as the general audience, will have the unique opportunity to share the rich Brazilian culture and traditions, as well as some of the contemporary issues affecting Brazil and its people, through its excellent cinematography.

Sponsored by the Center for Latin American Studies, the Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies and the generous contribution of Brown University alumnus Oliver Kwon ’87, this event will bring the latest in Brazilian cinema to New England. In collaboration with the Cinemateca Brasileira in São Paulo, Brazil, the program will consist of newly produced feature films, documentaries, and shorts made in or about Brazil.
